In this interview, we have David Perel, a talented designer and creator of many beautiful wordpress themes. Let's hear from him on his take on Fireworks.
To begin with, who are you and where are you from?
Cape Town, South Africa
What do you work as in your day job? I am the co-founder of Obox, I work on all the designs and css of our main site and the themes we release.
David will also show you a high-speed screencast of changing the color scheme for a site design that they are doing for a client. He also talks about some Fireworks tips. Enjoy!
What type of projects do you work in Fireworks and are there any challenges you faced that Fireworks have helped you?
How long have you been using Fireworks?
6 Years
Why should a designer use Fireworks?
It's by far the most superior web designing program. It's easy to use, has a huge amount of features and is faster than PS. The load times etc are considerably better.
Tell us why Fireworks is your preferred choice for doing user interface design? As mentioned above.
Fireworks excels as a rapid prototyping tool. How does Fireworks helps you in your daily design workflow?
As mentioned above.
What is your favorite workflow in Fireworks and why?
The fact that when I click on a layer it becomes active. Why Photoshop doesn't have this as standard blows my mind. It's so far ahead in terms of workflow it's silly. I have often had little competitions with my friends who use PS - I would set a challenge and we would see who could do it the quickest. FW wins everytime.
If you can only list 5 favorite best features in Fireworks, what will they be?
Vector Tools
Exporting images
Master templates
Pages
Active layers
Many people compare Photoshop with Fireworks. What is your viewpoint in this?
As mentioned above.
Fireworks work even better with fireworks extensions. What are your favorite extensions from other developers and how do you use it in your work?
To be honest I've never used the Fireworks extensions
Do you develop your own Fireworks commands?
Not any that I use on consistent basis
Do you have a Fireworks tip for the Fireworks community?
CMD + K - It automatically cleans up blurry vectors without you having to zoom all the way to make sure that they are pixel perfect.
Are you involved with any communities on the web?
Only the WordPress community
Do you have a blog? Where can we find you?

It's a pleasure.
